Guide for RIAs

Orion and Advyzon run the practice. Athena runs the household that practice is trying to grow.

Both suites deserve credit as all-in-one firm platforms. Orion is the scale suite with Eclipse, Redtail, planning, a branded portal, and Denali AI for advisor work. Advyzon is the in-house suite advisors keep ranking first for satisfaction on CRM, reporting, portals, and billing, with Quantum for tax-aware rebalance. Athena is for the lean book that needs a wellness app households open, a CRM on that same household, and ads that do not die on a form.

Orion

Built for the established book, the statement, and the advisor’s day.

Orion’s public product line is a suite: portfolio accounting, Eclipse trading, planning, Redtail CRM, and a client portal. The Summit Experience, which came in with the 2025 Summit Wealth Systems acquisition, is the premium white-label layer for firms that want a more distinctive, often ultra-high-net-worth presentation of portfolio, plan, and family data. Denali is Orion’s data layer and AI platform, and the 2025–2026 launch story is assistants that query the stack, draft reports, and do advisor work with approval, not a household chat that explains debt and cash in the firm’s voice.

That is a strong answer if your problem is running a traditional AUM book at enterprise quality. It is a weaker answer if your problem is a long tail of smaller households who never log into a portal and will not fill out a form after a LinkedIn ad.

What Orion is for

Orion is for firm operations at scale

Reporting, trading, CRM, and a branded portal, with Summit when the client experience has to look like a family office. Denali helps the team. The household still lives in a portal-shaped product.

Advyzon

One engineering team, one suite, and a CRM that is the center of the product.

Advyzon’s own site still tells the same story it has told for years: one platform for CRM, portfolio management, performance reporting, Quantum rebalancing, billing, documents, and a client portal. Quantum markets household grouping, location optimization, cash management, and tax-loss harvesting, with trades out to major custodians. Advyzon AI, launched into that same stack, is advisor-trained automation for meeting prep, documents, planning workflows, and tasks. Kitces and T3 surveys have repeatedly put Advyzon at the top of all-in-one satisfaction, which is why this page does not call the suite unfinished.

The limit is the household. A strong branded portal still answers “what do I hold and where is my statement.” It does not become the daily app for credit, debt, cash, and ranked next steps, and it does not turn a paid click into a relationship you can retarget after they bounce.

What Advyzon is for

Advyzon is for firms that want one vendor

Native CRM, Quantum, reporting, and a portal without stitching five products. Advisor AI sits on that record. Client AI in the firm’s voice, across money life, is still thin.

Athena

The household app, the CRM, and the ad are the same system.

Athena is the firm-branded wellness app, Mission Control as the household CRM, always-on planning, communication from household state, and one overnight investment policy across taxable, Traditional, and Roth. Ads on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Google, LinkedIn, and YouTube land in the app, not a form. The custodian stays the custodian. Today that custodial connection is Charles Schwab.

You do not buy Athena because Orion cannot produce a statement. You buy it because the suite’s portal and CRM were never designed to make a large book of smaller clients cheap to serve and cheap to acquire. See Why Athena and Compare.

What Athena is for

Athena is for lean teams and a long tail

More clients without more people. The app answers routine questions. Mission Control holds exceptions. Ads get more than one shot at a wealth client.

Capability by capability

The table is directional. Re-check it in diligence, because these products move.

Capability Orion Advyzon Athena
Firm ops, reporting, billing Native suite strength, including Redtail CRM Native suite strength, CRM at the center Mission Control is the household CRM. Custody and the ledger stay.
What the client opens Branded portal; Summit is a premium layer, still investment and plan-led Strong branded portal, still portal-shaped Wellness app: net worth, cash, debt, credit, Health, Athena AI
AI Denali and assistants are advisor and ops-side Advyzon AI is advisor-embedded Athena AI is client-facing in the firm’s voice, with a path to a person
Investing Eclipse and tax-aware trading at suite scale Quantum: location, cash, tax-loss harvesting, household groups One household policy across taxable, Traditional, and Roth, supervised overnight
Communication Suite messaging and firm comms Suite messaging and firm comms Advice-triggered email and in-app notes on the household record
Growth Pipeline tools; the click still usually goes to a site or form Growth tools; not a closed loop into a wellness app Ads to six platforms, land in the app, retarget click-not-funded
Who it is built for Established AUM economics and larger teams Small and mid-size firms that want one vendor Lean teams whose growth is more households, not higher minimums

Questions this usually raises.

Can we keep Orion or Advyzon for statements?

Yes. Athena does not replace the custodian or the books. A suite that already holds statements can stay. Mission Control is the household CRM, so you do not need a second CRM for the book.

Is Summit a wellness app?

Orion markets Summit as a premium, firm-branded experience for complex wealth, powered by Denali data. It is still a portal and advisor-presentation layer, not a daily money-life app that also takes the paid click.

Does Quantum mean Advyzon already does household investing?

Quantum is a serious rebalancer with tax and location tools. Athena’s investing story is one policy across taxable, Traditional, and Roth, plus the wellness and growth loop around those accounts. Those are different jobs.
